Or venous malformation (fig 3 shows large thick walled vessel resembling a vein?) and the clinical description is of a mass rather than a plaque.

I think there is a haemorrhage within the stratum corneum in fig3. Papillomatosis and elongation of the rete ridges are seen and the lesion is extended to subcutaneous tissue, that makes me favor VH.

My impression was that of verrucous hemangioma too, still this lesion is considered a vascular malformation.

Verrucous hemangioma (which is basically a malformation).
