Description: 14th Annual Mount Sinai Winter Symposium Advances in Medical & Surgical Dermatology Friday, Saturday, and Sunday December 9-11, 2011 Sponsored by: Department of Dermatology Our conference will be approved for a minimum of 19.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) TM. This annual symposium event is specifically designed to update the practicing dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons and other health professionals on the timeliest advances in Medical and Surgical Dermatology. New information about psoriasis, rosacea, skin cancer, dermatopathology, eczema, infectious diseases, contact dermatitis; HIV Dermatology; and numerous cosmetic procedures will be presented. Clinical pearls about topical therapy, simple explanations of complicated dermatopathologic diagnoses, and discussion pertaining to educationally valuable cases are among the many subjects which will be covered in this year’s program. Live Patient Demonstrations and Workshops with newly-approved cosmetic devices will also be featured. The target audience is comprised of MSSM faculty, local, national, and international dermatologists, and cosmetic surgeons, along with dermatology residents and fellows, medical students, and health professionals with backgrounds in the field of dermatology. The program has been designed to be highly interactive with ample opportunity for questions and answers following the didactic sessions, live patient demonstrations, and panel discussions. We will have an equal emphasis on the medical as well as the surgical dermatology. Participants will benefit from the close circuit televising system which will enable them to closely observe cosmetic techniques while are being administrated by the renowned experts. The education which will be disseminated during the course of the program will enable participants to bridge their professional gaps so they can meet the educational needs which exist in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, and dermatopathology. Our educational program will offer tools for better diagnosis and treatment options of medical dermatological conditions, such as psoriasis, eczema, actinic keratosis, acne, and skin cancers, surgical dermatology, such as surgical closures, cosmetic procedures, newly-approved devices for the treatment of photodamage and age-related skin changes, and dermatopathology i.e. new immunohistochemical stains and diagnostic techniques. Our audience will be able to: a) Identify and analyze new and important studies in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology, and dermatopathology. Assess the most current research on the diagnosis and treatment of medical dermatological conditions, such as psoriasis, eczema, actinic keratosis, acne, and skin cancers. c) Compare and contrast new surgical techniques including surgical closures and cosmetic procedures and apply them to their practice. d) Improve skills by observing live patient demonstrations using newly-approved devices for the treatment of photodamage and age-related skin changes. e) Recognize, manage and appropriately treat unusual skin conditions, including the use of new relevant injectable and IV infusion treatment.
