Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the 2012 Annual Meeting of the German Society for Neuropathology and Neuroanatomy! Our 57th society meeting will be held on 12–15 September at the Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg.

This year‘s programme will focus on the translation of our current understanding of neuropathology into novel treatment strategies for brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, neurodegenerative disorders, muscle and nerve diseases, and epilepsies. The meeting will include presentations from distinguished key note speakers, the international symposium of our DFG research group FOR 1228, scientific platform sessions and an outstanding presidential lecture on human brain development. In addition to the scientific programme, there will be an industrial exhibition and, importantly, lively social events that we hope will guarantee to make this a memorable meeting.

Our programme offers also an exciting series of scientific workshops which hopefully meet your interest. We would also appreciate to welcome our lab technicians to participate in a workshop on trouble shooting in routine histopathology. The new “DGNN-Fortbildungskurs:
Histologische Klassifkationen” addresses neuropathology staff and will promote a platform to discuss and train for newly introduced schemes in the classification of neurodegenerative disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, and other Hot Topics. We very much recommend early registration for these special feature events.

We are particularly keen to encourage students and young investigators to present work in progress. Our poster committee will select
the best abstracts for oral platform presentation and there will be awards for best posters. The DGNN also invites young investigators
to apply this year for the Werner-Rosenthal Prize. Details will soon be available.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to Erlangen and
Medical Valley – our national leading-edge cluster in the European
Metropolitan Region of Nuremberg!

Yours faithfully
