Dear Members and Colleagues,

It is a great honor for us to host the 11th BIENNIAL GONGRESS OF EAOM in Athens in 2012 and we express our greatest thanks to all the Executive EAOM board members for entrusting this organization.

Greece enjoys a particularly advantageous geographical and historical position, by being the birthplace of legendary figures such as Hippocrates, the father of Medicine, as well as a major international cultural and tourist destination.

Athens is a city that combines a rich archaeological past and a modern state-of-the-art infrastructure. All these facilities in a city where a world of antiquity, myths and legends blend harmoniously with the modern way of life, are expected to attract participants from Europe, Australia, America and other countries to the 11th BIENNIAL CONGRESS OF EAOM and will offer them an ideal environment and opportunity for fruitful scientific communications, in the flourishing field of Oral Medicine.

I hope the meeting in Athens will be of high scientific quality with plenary sessions which address two Oral Medicine challenging topics, that of potentially malignant disorders and that of new therapeutic approaches. Internationally known experts in their fields will run through from clinical diagnosis to basic pathology and pathogenic mechanisms to management. Furthermore updated treatment modalities will provide new information on the management of patients with oral medicine problems which eventually may enable the establishment of guidelines.

Parallel to these two main topics will be a session on updates in oral medicine and a session with presentation of cases. A great number of papers some of which will be selected for oral presentations will support the main symposia. A large exhibition area will host the sponsors and the posters.
We have put all the time and work in order to make this meeting a great success. In this effort I had the help and support of my fellows from the University of Athens Dental School, the Executive board members of the Hellenic Society of Oral Medicine and Pathology together with the EAOM assistance.

As the meeting will be dedicated to education we particularly encourage young colleagues and graduate students to join us.

A warm Athenian welcome awaits you!
