Acral Myxoinflammatory fibroblastic sarcoma

Case 272 (P. McKee) Male 42 years, subcutaneous nodule in forearm.

Very difficult diagnosis.  Confusing mixture of inflammatory cells (lymphocytes and plasma cells) amongst biazrre collection of pleomorphic cells and histiocytes in a collagenous and myxoid background.  These are ALK1 +ve 

 

Case 1045 (H. Diwan) A 40 year-old male presented with a cyst on his left hand.

Low-grade tumour of modified fibroblasts, typically on distal extremities. 

Myxoid matrix, numerous inflammatory cells of all types.  Large, bizarre tumour cells sometimes engulfing inflammatory cells.
