Allergic granulomatous nodules of eyelid and conjunctiva

Operations Pathhub

Case 502 (R. Carr) Nasal polyps and allergies. Lumpy red conjunctiva and eyelids.

Striking eosinophil-rich infiltrate with giant cells and flame figures/Splendore-Hoeppli phenomenon.  In this case the S-H reaction is an allergic phenomenon, not in response to a foreign organism as is usually the case. (This is ringing small bells – is it to do with granuloma faciale and its internal counterpart?)  Some reasonably thought Churg-Strauss type reaction.
