A good dermatopathologist should be able to recognise common dermatological conditions. The module has been produced by Prof H Francois Jordaan a world renowned Dermatologist from South Africa. About the Author

Prof H Francois Jordaan

Prof H Francois Jordaan qualified as a dermatologist in 1982 and has followed an academic career since. He is associate professor, principal specialist and former head of the Division of Dermatology, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Stellenbosch and Tygerberg Academic Hospital, South Africa. He is a honorary consultant at the Department of Anatomical Pathology at the same institution.

Prof Jordaan acts as a dermatopathology consultant for three private pathology practices in the Western Cape and is a clinical consultant for the Tygervalley Skin and Laser Centre. He is actively involved in the teaching of skin signs of HIV/AIDS in the Eastern Cape and to caregivers from other African countries. He is member of the executive committee of the Dermatological Society of South Africa, the SA Melanoma Advisory Board and the South African Academy of Science and Arts.

Prof Jordaan regularly conducts clinicopathological seminars at the University of Limpopo. He is a honorary fellow of the Dermatopathology Society of India. He is involved in teaching of pregraduate and postgraduate students on a daily basis. He regularly invigilates in the part 1 and 2 examinations for registrars in dermatology. He published 47 manuscripts in peer review journals, more than 50 articles in other journals, wrote chapters in three books and presented numerous papers at national and international congresses. His main interests are dermatopathology, skin signs of systemic disease, skin signs of HIV/AIDS, cutaneous tuberculosis and pediatric dermatology.
