58 year-old male with new firm, hemorrhagic crusted papules on forehead, cheeks, chin and ears. Clinical impression: rule out zoster.

Agree with cryptococcosis, gelatinous pattern. Numerous small yeasts surrounded by prominent capsule. Special stains will highlight narrow-based budding. No perceptible inflammatory response can be seen. Patient is probably immunosuppressed.

[color=#1C2837][font=arial, verdana, tahoma, sans-serif][size=4]Agree : disseminated cryptococcosis. Gelatinous pattern essentially eliminates any other fungal consideration from the differential, in my opinion. [/size][/font][/color]
