An epidermal cup enclosing a central crater of cornified cells. There is underlying scar with telangiectases and plump fibroblasts. Epidermal cells show normal maturation and no nuclear atypia at all.
Clinical information drive me to the diagnosis of a keratoacanthoma progressing towards complete regression.
A microscopic, but not clinical, differential diagnosis is transepidermal elimination of an epidermoid cyst.
