The patient is a 34 year old man with an excision with margin exam of a darkening lesion present for six months, taken from the left medial ankle.

I also thought this was a varix. The clinically diagnosis was nonspecific "discoloration". I thought it was unusual for most cirsoid aneurysms I have seen. Other comments welcome.

Perhaps not best person to ask as I am a great lumper with any benign vascular lesion! Certainly agree with a benign ateriovenous haemangioma / malformation (almost my stock phrase). It is vaguely like cirsoid aneurysm-like but they tend to have very well formed arterial muscular walls and are invariably present on the cheek.
