F50. South asian extraction. Developed 3 to 4cm speckled pigmented macular area on breast contiguous with areola. ?Simple pigmentation, flat SEBK, ?early melanoma.

Looks benign and fitting with melanosis of the areola but I would do first Melan A (with a red chromogen) to exclude for sure any abnormal lentiginous contiguous melanocytic proliferation.

Yes I was asked to review the case and agree it shows features of melanosis of the areola. There are a few case reports only. Interestingly the inital report had suggested the diagnosis of a leiomyoma.
