There are some diseases whose microscopic expression includes basket-weave stratum corneum overlying an interface dermatitis with basal cell vacuolization and marked pigmentary incontinence, but fixed drug eruption is the one I remember which manifests clinically as a solitary recurrent erythematous patch on an extremity.
