Horizontal plate-like growth of anastomosing epithelial strands with peripheral palisading of basaloid cells - suggestive of tumour of follicular infundibulum.

Yes this is a nice example of sclerotic dermatofibroma with rather striking basaloid follicular hyperplasia/follicular induction. Cases can closely resemble superficial BCC. In my experience the latter is exceedingly uncommon overlying/associated with DF. Follicular induction resembles superficial trichoblastoma seen in naevus sebaceus and will show hyperplastic Merkel cells. Condensations of papillary stromal cells can be highlighted with CD10.
