Nice case. We could see epidermal ulcer, fibrin, mixed inflammatory infiltrate, necrosis and cellular debris with a lot of filaments most of them brown. Phaeohyphomycosis.

Diagnostic must be done based on CPC and fungal isolation. Histopathological sensitivity is about 85% and nearly 100% with Gomori stain. Tks for sharing.

Well done everybody!

This was a case of phaeohyphomycosis confirmed by culture (Exophiala/Wangiella dermatidis).
