Subtle hyperkeratosis, papillomatosis and acanthosis along with increased melanin pigmentation in the basal layer are the clues suggesting confluent and reticulated papillomatosis.

I agree, it looks like confluent and reticulated papillomatosis. How about a PAS stain?

Confluent reticulate papillomatosis or Idiopathic eruptive macular pigmentation with papillomatosis.

Confluent and articulated papillomatosis. Pas is negative and CARP is favored clinically over acanthosis nigricans and IEMP.
