Dr. Eugene Ong

Dr Eugene Ong is a consultant dermatologist with a strong interest in dermatopathology and medical education.

Having graduated from Oxford University Medical School in 2011 and undertaken an intercalated research degree, Dr Ong trained in dermatology at Chelsea Westminster Hospital and University College London Hospital where he developed an interest in complex medical dermatology and dermatopathology. He won the LD Path Dermatopathology Cup first prize at the BAD national conference.

He undertook a two year fellowship in dermatopathology at St John's Institute of Dermatology, headed by world-renowned dermatopathologist Dr Eduardo Calonje. He was elected British Society of Dermatopathology trainee representative and BAD dermatology co-trainee representative .

He is a ICDP-UEMS European board certified dermatopathologist and has passed the RCPath Diploma in Dermatopathology part 1 (an exam set at an expert referral level).

Dr Ong has authored 20 peer-reviewed journal articles including first author for high impact journals like the JAAD, and is on the editorial advisory board for the CED.

Dr Ong has a passion for medical education. He is regularly involved in teaching both regionally and nationally. He has won numerous awards for his teaching, including "Innovation Gold award", "Education Project by a healthcare professional award", "Trainer of the month" as well as best oral presentation awards at St John's meetings and BSD annual conference. He is a lecturer and co-founder of the annual BAD "Dermatopathology Made Easy" course.
