This symposium will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Royal College of Pathologists and will progress during the day from a historical perspective of the Royal College and Microbiology in the past decades, moving through current issues and on to the outlook for the future practice of clinical microbiology and virology in the next 10 years in the light of the agreed Joint Infection Training proposals and the Pathology
Transformation agenda.
This one day conference will cover topics and clinical areas where Microbiologists have had much involvement such as infections in Critical Care, areas where there has been significant development and improvement (e.g. HCAI,OPAT), areas with potential for further development (e.g. Implant infections) as well as covering specialist areas such as viral and fungal infections.
It is hoped that this programme will be of interest and relevance to both Microbiologists and Infectious Disease Physicians.
