    This course is designed to enhance your abilities in resolving problematic areas in breast pathology and arriving at accurate diagnosis through sharpening your diagnostic skills. You will learn about the clinical significance and impact of various interpretations; the new immunohistochemical and molecular tests used for diagnosis, patient management and prognostication; and the information that should be conveyed to our clinical colleagues for optimal management of patients in an interdisciplinary setting.

    This comprehensive course will prepare you to take a leading role in assisting and coaching your clinical colleagues by providing the accurate diagnosis and state-of-the-art analysis required for patient management.

    [*]Recognize and understand implications of flat DIN1 (flat epithelial atypia) and approaches to its management when identified in a core biopsy and at resection margins.
    [*]Utilize the ductal intraepithelial neoplasia (DIN) classification and know how to translate hyperplasia, atypical hyperplasia, and various grades of in situ carcinoma into the DIN system.
    [*]Describe how and why to use the LIN designation rather than ALH and LCIS.
    [*]Distinguish radial scar and complex sclerosing lesions from invasive carcinoma.
    [*]Discriminate among various patterns of papilloma and papillary carcinoma.
    [*]Grade biphasic lesions and recognize some of the uncommon variants.
    [*]Utilize immunohistochemistry to distinguish various spindle cell tumors of the breast.
    [*]Correlate molecular and morphologic classification.
    [*]Appreciate the contribution of multi-gene based prognostic tests and their limitations.
    [*]Distinguish various patterns of adenosis that may be misinterpreted as carcinoma.
    [*]Recognize a wide variety of unusual benign and malignant mammary lesions.
    [*]Recognize the usefulness and pitfalls of core biopsies and sentinel node biopsies.
    [*]Provide proper advice following findings in a sentinel node biopsy that would require complete axillary node dissection.
    [*]Recognize basic imaging alterations that lead to a biopsy and understand the BIRAD.

    [font="Verdana,Arial,Helvetica"][size="2"]Since 1998 general [b]annual meetings[/b] of the IELSG investigators have been regularly held to discuss the ongoing studies and to propose or plan future studies (see the programs below). Participation is open to all [b]clinicians[/b], [b]pathologists[/b], and [b]scientists[/b] who have a professional interest in extranodal lymphomas. Thus far we have been able to avoid registration fees but the REGISTRATION IS NEEDED

    In addition, workshops of chairpersons and investigators of individual studies and pathology review sessions have been, and will be, organized. All the relevant informations on these activities will be regularly updated in the IELSG Newsletters and posted in the website.[/size][/font]
