Case 50 (P. McKee) – straightforward appearance (*teaching)
Case 527 (R. Carr) M 84 tight anal stenosis
Interesting case of dual pathology. Papillary dermal amyloid deposits which are PanCK negative, suggesting not epidermally derived and should prompt search for systemic disease. Also nice PAS of candida.
Case 2825 (H. Diwan) F 48 lower back pigmentation
Case 2900 (S. Taibjee) F 29 progressive pigmentation on back (*teaching)
Low power view suggested confluent and reticulated papillomatosis. However, on high power there are amorphous hyaline deposits in the papillary dermis with pigmentary incontinence. Rugose epidermal folding fits with rippled pattern seen clinically. ST feels that keratin stains are more helpful than Congo Red in this situation. Here MNF116 and 34BE12 strong +ve, AE1/AE3 weak. Nice Congo Red +ve.
Case 4526 (M. Abdel-Halim) F 50 Hyperpigmentation on back
Notalgia paraesthetica leading to secondary macular amyloisosis.
