Basal cell carcinoma with Pinkus-like appearance

Case 836  30.8.13 (R. Carr)  M 71 long-standing plaque in groin 

Reticulated pattern with mucinous stroma.  Not a true fibroepithelioma of Pinkus because: 

No stromal condensations of papillary mesenchymal cells; fenestrations too short; no reactive Merkel cells; no CD30+ve stromal cells (always present in Pinkus - fenestrated trichoblastoma)
