Case 2927 24.9.21 (R. Carr) M 70 nodule, scalp

A difficult basosquamomelanocytic tumour. Melanocytic component is dendritic and reactive. Origin from follicular epithelium supported by calretinin expression. Calretinin is expressed in the outer root sheath throughout the whole length of the follicle. Nuclear Beta-catenin is part of the signalling pathway involved in the hair cycle – often expressed in pilomatrixoma.
