Case 581 30.8.12 (P. Mckee) M 48 tumour on back.
Very difficult diagnosis. The tumour is believed to be derived from precursors of plasmacytoid dendritic cells and is included within the acute myeloid leukemia spectrum. The tumour cells express CD4, CD43, CD56 and less consistently CD68, CD123, CD305 and TCL1 may also be expressed. The infiltrate consists of a monotonous infiltrate of medium sized blast cells. Most cases present in skin but quickly become leukaemic.

Dense B-cell pattern nodular infiltrate. Cells have a plasmacytoid morphology.
IH: +ve for CD4, 56, 123

B-cell lymphoma pattern, but CD20 –ve, CD 4 +ve; CD56 +ve; CD123 +ve New drug tagraxofusp targets CD123
