Note intracytoplasmic organisms within the giant cells. Many thought Leishmaniasis. Histoplasma organisms are larger and surrounded by a pseudocapsule, highlighted by silver stain (GMS).

Case 4443 31.1.24 (M. Batrani) M 51 multiple papules and nodules head and upper trunk
Lymphohistiocytic heavy, upper and mid-dermal infiltrate. Intracytoplasmic basophilic organisms visible in histiocytes. No GMS shown.
DD: Leishmaniasis; cryptococcosis; leprosy; syphilis.
