Case 315  Aug 11 (P. McKee)  M middle agedInguinal node 

Benign tumour of smooth muscle cells and myofibroblastsAmianthoid collagen fibres. Usually shows SMA +ve globules and cyclinD-1 ++Associated with HHV8 and EBVExtravasated RBC’s are common and cause confusion with KS. 

DD: neurilemmoma; also looked like fibromyxoid sarcoma with herring-bone pattern. 

 

Case 1143 10.11.14  (IH Chaudhry)  M 49 enlarging groin lesion (typical presentation) 

Very rare. Lymph node replaced by spindle cell tumour compressing remainder of node to edge into a collagenous pseudocapsule.  Bland spindle cells showing Antoni-A pattern of nuclear palisadingIntraparenchymal haemorrhage and haemosiderinAmianthoid bodies – collagen fibres with dark eosinophilic centre and paler stellate peripheryFuchsinophilic material red on Trichrome stain. 

IH: spindle cells +ve vimentin, SMA and cyclin D1. Ki-67 low.
