Acantholysis

About the condition
Acantholysis implies a separation of the keratinocytes due to damage to the desmosomes (intercellular bridges).
It may be inherited e.g. Darier’s and Hailey-Hailey disease or due to antibodies to intercellular antigens e.g. pemphigus vulgaris or pemphigus foliaceus and their variants.
