Darier’s disease

Operations Pathhub

Case 123   Nov 2010 (P. McKee) – this view shows small focal areas of acantholysis without the typical Darier features, which were visible elsewhere in the specimen.

Message:  look at the whole specimen.

Case 812  29.7.13 (M. Hurt)  M 13 scaly rash neck (*teaching)

Good example, especially illustrating corps ronds.

Case 2111  10.7.18 (H. Diwan)  F  35  papulo-squamous rash.  Daughters similar.

Far from typical.  Small focus of parakeratosis containing dyskeratotic corneocytes (? corps ronds).  Acantholysis not seen in this section.  Obviously diagnosis was not clear-cut.

Case 2631  6.8.20 (S. Taibjee) M 77 sudden onset of widespread warty papules

Clinically Grover distribution but very widespread and I favoured late onset Darier’s both clinically and histologically.  S. Taibjee agreed.  Found evidence of occasional  paraneoplastic Darier’s disease.

Ref: Gangopadhyay A, et al. Darier's disease in gastric malignancy: An unusual paraneoplastic phenomenon. Indian J Dermatol 2015;60(4):423).

Case 2898  16.8.21 (M. Abdel-Halim)  Spot Diagnosis

Small focus of supra-basal acantholysis.

Case 4124  10.11.22 (S. Taibjee) F 75 recent flare of rash (*teaching)

Nice histology and clinical photos.

Case 4267  30.5.23  (U. Sundram) F 40 extensive flat-topped papules.  Thigh biopsy (*teaching)
