Dermatitis artefacta

Operations Pathhub

Case 1415   25.11.15 (A. Bakshi)  M 19 acute onset blisters, legs

Superficial epidermal necrosis.  Vertical elongations of keratinocytes suggests thermal or cryo injury.  Sub-epidermal blister.

Case 2421  10.10.19   F 82 “leg ulcer”

“Top heavy”; very peculiar appearance in ulcerated slough.

Case 2896  12.8.21 (S. Taibjee) F 12 persistent pink erythema of cheeks (*teaching)

“Outside in” changes.  Alteration of upper levels of epidermis, relative sparing of lower epidermis.  Mummified appearance to epidermis, a useful clue to DA.  Upper epidermal vacuolisation and BC extravasation.
