Complicated by Chromoblastomycosis (from thorn injury). Nice birefringence of vegetable matter; Medlar bodies (stacks of copper pennies) characteristic of chromoblastomycosis

Wood splinter (parallel xylem tubes) shown nicely on polarisation. Fibrosis and plasma-cell rich infiltrate. Branching filamentous bacteria on Gram – actinomyces, possibly Nocardia spp. They may show a characteristic beading pattern (not seen here).
Case 1342 14.8.15 (N. Tiffin/R. Carr) M 30 “cyst” cheek (HIV +ve)
Large empty space lined with eosinophilic FBGC’s reacting to keratin flakes (old ruptured cyst). Also shows lipoatrophy with small, uniform adipocytes in response to anti-retroviral drug

Epidermally-lined cyst. Surrounding “myxoid”, foreign-body reaction from steroid injection 3 months before. Not all views visible.

Foreign-body granulomatous reaction. Thought to be tick mouthpart.
Case 3030 16.2.22 (H. Diwan) F 55 forearm - ?cyst or infection
Overlying eroded lichen simplex-like changes. Injected steroid deposit in dermis represented by acellular, amorphous, somewhat vesicular material.

Granulomatous reaction to unknown filler, possibly silicone.

Granulomatous reaction to hyaluronic acid filler.

Scar with injected steroid material.
